Farmers Market

The Farmers Market at Rockaway Beach is one happy place. Every Wednesday from May through November, farmers set up their tents and sell awesome produce, bread, and other food products.
Not only is it good to support farmers and businesses within our local area, it's also great to eat food that hasn't traveled all the way from across the world just to get to my plate. Sure it's about minimizing my carbon footprint, but it's also about freshness.

Here are my favorites:
I always want to stock up on vegetable paratha, naan, mango chutney and cilantro chutney from Sukhi's. They also have vegetable samosas to eat right there.

I got falafel and hummus from Dalex Co. today. Very good!
The Best Cinnamon Bread from Greenlees really is the BEST! I was hooked the moment I had a taste. Go ahead, I challenge you to walk by, get a little pinch of the stuff and tell me you're not moved to buy a whole loaf.

J & M Ibarra Farm comes all the way from Fresno to bring the best organic vegetables on the market. I'm not just biased because I get to talk Tagalog with the farmers. It really is great quality organic produce. I buy shiitake mushrooms, basil, carrots, squashes, corn, spinach and green beans from them. They also have okra, eggplants, various leafy greens and tomatoes.
There's an organic farm in Pescadero, I don't believe I remember what the name of their farm is, but they have the sweetest strawberries and plums.

Mountain blueberries are another favorite. I just bought two quarts today, half of which I will make into ice cream, the other half a raw nutritious snack for the whole family.

I really look forward to the Farmers Market every week. Live music makes it even more of an event. Today they had a lady named Anna Laube singing and playing guitar.
If you plan on going to the Farmers Market, make sure you bring cash with you. There is no card swiping going on in the booths, and walking around looking for an ATM can be a buzzkill. How much depends on you. I started out with a $40 budget and gradually worked myself up to bringing $75 with me. Sometimes I stop buying only when I run out of money, other times I have everything I need and change left in my pocket.

I wholeheartedly agree with you about that Cinnamon Bread. They also make good cakes. We get my bf's mom one every year for her birthday
Thanks, Perle. I will definitely give their cakes a try.
Beautiful sunflowers!
My wish is to be wealthy enough to easily afford to fill my all vases at home with fresh flowers every week!
Sunflowers are so happy, aren't they? They're pretty easy to grow, too. I remember tossing a few seeds in some buckets of soil once, and they took. They grew really tall, and yellow, and glorious!!!
